Mt Ruapehu from Paekakariki Hill

On rare ocassions, you can see Mount Ruapehu which is 200km away from the 200m high Paekakariki Hill Lookout in Kapiti. Mount Ruapehu is 2797 metres above sea level, but only half the mountain is visible in the image because the bottom part of the mountain and Taupo Plateau beneath are hidden behind the horizon or curvature of the earth.
