The coastline in the suburb of Long Bay is occupied by the Long Bay Regional Park, with the shoreline being a marine reserve. The beach is sandy and popular for swimming. It is the last North Shore beach (with the exception of a few small coves). To the north lie the beaches of the Rodney District in Auckland.
