Whitby Lakes is made up of two lakes, Upper and Lower lakes. Retirement homes and the shopping centre are located around the Lower Lake, while a nature reserve surrounds Upper Lake, (pictured). Both lakes have a resident population of Black Swans, native Pukeko, and ducks.
