About

Vava'u is an archipelago comprising over 40 islands in Tonga. It is the northern most island chain in the country. The capital Neiafu, is the second largest city in Tonga.

It is located in the Port of Refuge considered by many as one of the most beautiful harbours in the world. The islands are renown as a world class diving location making Vava'u the main tourist attraction in Tonga.

The youngest island in this island group was formed in 2006 when eruptions of a submerged volcano caused it to rise above sea level.
