St. Anthonys Church photoMost Tonga's class themselves as Christian. They are strict church goers and each Sunday, Tonga is practically closed for business. Sunday is thought of as the Sabbath so shops and services close down except essential services. Tongans dress in their Sunday best and services can last for hours as they attend to the spiritual and social needs of the people.

Tongan Church Service photoThe Wesleyan denomination (Methodist) is the most popular in the country with the royal family and king being members. There are four other Methodist denominations present in Tonga. The Roman Catholic Church is the second biggest denomination followed by the Free Church. The Latter-day Saints is also a popular denomination.
