View of a snow capped Mount Ngauruhoe near National Park, a small town oin the North Island's Central Plateau. The famous Tongariro Crossing, an alpine track passes near the volcano via the Mangatepopo Valley to the saddle between Ngauruhoe and Tongariro. During winter the trek can be treacherous.
