About Hastings

Hastings is situated in the Hawke's Bay region about 20 km from the neighbouring city of Napier. Both cities are often spoken of as one urban area which equates as one of the the biggest urban areas in New Zealand.

Situated on the fertile Heretaunga Plains, The Hastings District is known as the largest apple, pear and stone fruit growing region of New Zealand.

Hastings location mapThe Hastings District has a number of natural attractions worth visiting including the Havelock Hills which has a road to Te Mata Peak offering spectacular views. Further east is Ocean Beach, a sandy beach great for swimming, surfing, or just soaking up some sun.

The climate in Hastings is described as Mediterranean and has over 2200 sunshine hours annually with considerably less rainfall than the national average.
