About International Antarctic Centre

The International Antarctic Centre is located near Christchurch International Airport in the suburb of Harewood. It is a major tourist attractions for Christchurch.

Besides the Visitor Centre, the New Zealand, United States, and Italian Antarctic Programmes are located here. These bases include hangars, offices, warehouses, a travel agency, a post office, and a clothing store which service missions to Antractica. Christchurch Airport is the last airport before passengers and scientists head to Antarctica.

The Antarctic Attraction' is the part that tourists visit. There are audiovisual displays, an Antarctic snow storm room, little blue penguins, and a cafe. Rides are available on a Hagglund tracked vehicle which are used in tundra environments like Antarctica and the Arctic.
