About Fraser Coast

The Fraser Coast lies between the Sunshine and Coral coasts. It is situated just south of the Great Barrier Reef and adjacent to Fraser Island. The coastline contains sheltered sandy beaches with a variety of marine animals including sea turtles, dolphins, dugons, and humpback whales.

Rainbow Beach in the south is famous for its colourful cliffs and white sand. Further north lies The Great Sandy Strait which is a world recognised Wetland area. Nature and photography enthusiasts will love the opportunity to capture rare and wonderland sea creatures and almost 30,000 migratory shorebirdswhich stop here on annual migrations.

Hervey Bay offers swimming, fishing, diving, and all manner of water activities. Along the Bay is an esplanade with accomodation options, shops, cafes, parks, and a marina which all afford views of Fraser Island.

Fraser Island is a unique and protected sand island with lakes and lush sub-tropical rainforest growing in the sand.
