    Cape Tribulation

Cape TribulationCape Tribulation is part of the Daintree National Park which contains the oldest rainforest on earth. The cape itself was named by Captain Cook its founder, in the late 1700's, since it was just a little north of here that his tribulations began when he ran his ship onto Endeavour Reef.

In the 1970's 'The Cape' was a hippie outpost with a number of settlements. Today with a sealed road, Cape Tribulation is becoming more popular for tourists. This stretch of the coast is incredibly beautiful and it's one of the few places in Australia where the rainforest runs right to the sea.

The Wet Tropical rainforests here are now protected with World Heritage status and they exist right next to another famous World Heritage area, the Great Barrier Reef. In fact this is the only place on earth where 2 world heritage areas exist next to each other.
