Queen Victoria Building photo Argyle Stores
Once a wool exchange, the three-story sandstone and wood complex has been converted into a trendy shopping center and the seat of the best Italian food in Australia, so they say. You eat at tables set below the raised kitchen.

Oxford Street
Oxford Street offers great nightlife. It is packed with bars, cafes, nightclubs, shopsand cinemas. The main part of it runs from Hyde Park to Centennial Park, and is based around Taylor Square, although the street continues to Bondi Junction.

Queen Victoria Building
Queen Victoria Building is considered one of Sydney's architectural and commercial landmarks. It has stained-glass windows, wrought-iron balconies, elaborately tiled floors and a majestic Grand Centre Dome. Built in the late 1890s this massive Romanesque building occupies a whole block between Market and Druitt Streets and was built as a tribute to England's long-reigning monarch. The arcade has been restored to its original style and is packed with fashion boutiques, antique shops and duty-free stores. Good-quality Australiana souvenirs are located on the top floor.

Sky Garden
Six shopping levels containing fashion, food and homeware. Sky Garden has unusual shops and good-quality chain stores.

Strand Arcade
The Strand Arcade was the last of the arcades built in Victorian Sydney. A treasure trove of eclectic design, antiques, jewellery and gifts, The Strand Arcade is also home to many of Australia's top designers and duty free shopping.

The Rocks
The Rocks, a 19th century village hemmed in by Sydney Cove, Campbells Cove and Walsh Bay, lies in the shadow of the southern end of the Harbour Bridge. The Rocks is a treasure chest of "made in Australia" items and souvenirs, including Ken Done, opals and designer shops. There are also many courtyard cafes.
